When should I put out my yard signs?

While there is contention as to whether or not political yard signs are effective, there is a general consensus as to when to put them out. The general rule of thumb on when to put out the signs is 30-40 days out from early voting.

If the election does not have early voting, then it would be 30-40 days before the election. However, there is still a fine line between having your signs out long enough to ensure that the voters know who you are, and having them out long enough that they aren’t sick of your name.

In addition, many municipalities have restrictions on yard signs, which can make narrowing down a time frame even more difficult.

The Bottom Line
The bottom line here is to get them out as soon as possible. Given the restrictions that most districts have on placement time frame, you’re almost guaranteed that your signs won’t be out for too long. If you’re one of the lucky few and there aren’t ant restrictions, then stick with 40 days from election, give or take a week.
