Create Political Momentum by Inventing Something New
As we have mentioned in numerous posts before on SpeedySignsUSA, the key to winning an election is to build momentum. Unfortunately, many candidates don’t develop a plan specifically to build this crucial piece of a winning campaign.
One highly effective plan to cause a stir in your community is to invent something new and different. It could be a word, image, or phrase that strikes people as the thing to talk about and discuss. The reason this is so effective, is because creates a “buzz” among the people causing them to talk about your message and it gets tied to your candidate thereby making him instantly identifiable. The downside to this tactic, though, is that it is very difficult to implement.
Examples of this tactic were seen in the mid ‘90s when Newt Gingrich and his congressional team unified voting Republicans by changing the message from “Vote Sally Jakes, Republican for Congress”, to “Vote Republican, whoever that may be”.
While the example used was on a national level, that doesn’t mean that the strategy can’t work at the local level. The key is to find something that no one else is doing, that will be welcomed by the voters. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box; remember, the voters are used to hearing the same political message over and over, so stir the pot a bit.
